Class Descriptions and Schedules by Grade

PRE K & KINDERGARTEN

PRE K & KINDERGARTEN– This program introduces children Pre-K3 through Kindergarten to our Catholic faith with bible songs, stories and crafts. We will share weekly videos and crafts on Sundays.

GRADE 1

GRADE 1 – Updated for the 2024-2025 year, our theme this year is “Promise: What the Church Believes and Teaches”.  Students will learn about their faith through a variety of interactive lessons, crafts and stories.

GRADE 2

GRADE 2First Reconciliation Program– Successful completion of this program is mandatory for entry into the 3rd grade First Communion program. Students will prepare for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation which takes place in the spring. Second grade classes are held on the 1st, 3rd and sometimes 5th Sundays of the month from 9:15-10:15am. In addition, we encourage families to attend Mass. Older children who have not celebrated First Penance and children attending Catholic schools are welcome and must register before the program begins.

GRADE 3

Grade 3First Communion Program – this is a change….Students must have completed the 2nd grade Reconciliation program to enter the First Communion program. Classes meet once weekly (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) from 4:45-5:45pm to learn about Jesus’ presence in the Eucharist, the Mass and prepare for the Sacrament of First Communion which takes place in the spring. Older children who have not celebrated First Communion and children attending Catholic schools are welcome and must register before the program begins.

GRADE 4

Grade 4– Students continue to deepen the understanding of our Church and meet once weekly (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday) from 4:45-5:45pm. They will discuss the topic of Morality by reading scripture and the learning teachings of the Ten Commandments and an introduction to the Beatitudes.

GRADE 5

GRADE 5 – Students meet once weekly (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday). Classes for both grades are held in the Father Sullivan Center. You have a choice of class times, based on availability, of either 3:30-4:30pm or from 4:45-5:45pm.

Students examine the 7 Sacraments to understand that God pledges to give us his unconditional and unending love, as well as explore our Catholic beliefs as recited in the Apostles Creed.

GRADE 6

GRADE 6 – Students meet once weekly (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday). Classes for both grades are held in the Father Sullivan Center. You have a choice of class times, based on availability, of either 3:30-4:30pm or from 4:45-5:45pm.

Students will learn about God’s Covenant as revealed in the Old Testament. Students learn that the Scriptures are the living word of God that tells the story of our faith and why Jesus came into the world.

GRADES 7 & 8

GRADES 7 & 8 Successful completion of this two year program is mandatory for entry into the 9th and 10th grade Confirmation Program.  In this two-year community based program students come together for 12 classes in the Father Sullivan Center, and will participate in two small group out-of-class projects each year.  Guest speakers and activities are offered during the year.  Classes are held Tuesday (7th Grade) and Wednesday (8th Grade) from 7:00pm -8:30pm in the Fr. Sullivan Center.

GRADES 9 & 10

GRADES 9 & 10 Confirmation Program-Students participate in a two year Confirmation preparation program. The program includes small and large group educational presentations on various faith themes, including Catholic identity and the meaning of Confirmation. Requirements will also include 15 hours of community service per year and at least a one day retreat and one weekend retreat during the two year period. Guest speakers, retreat days, and social events will be offered periodically throughout the year.  Classes are held Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
